Earlier this week in a public Google Hangout, Director of Global Initiatives for ICare4Autism Eileen Hopkins gave perspective on “Autism Through a Lifetime.”
Autism is a disorder that affects adults as well as children. However, as Eileen discussed during the hangout, services begin to dwindle once an individual with autism turns eighteen.
“In the UK, we liken it to walking along, then falling off a cliff.”
Eileen suggests better government communication, more long-term preparation from parents, and understanding from employers.
