The Autism News | English By Stephen Naysmith | The Herald It was a case of being in the right place at the right time for Maureen Cook when she was given the task of dramatically reshaping services for people with learning disabilities in North Lanarkshire. “I was manager of a day service for people in Wishaw, but I’d calculated that we were four full-time posts short of what we needed to provide the service,” she recalls. “I had written a report for the council – but, unknown to me, senior managers had consulted families and care users and found they were really dissatisfied with what was on offer.
